A registered DIETITIAN (RD/RDN) MUST:
Complete a Masters Degree, and receive a verification statement from an ACEND-accredited program
Complete a rigorous 1200+ hour internship across diverse settings (hospital, food banks, kitchens, community)
Pass the National Board Exam
Obtain licensure in the state(s) where you practice
Apply ethical, evidence-based research in your recommendations
Complete 75+ hours of continuing education every 5 years
RD and RDN are equivalent credentials

A NUTRITIONIST* IS:
Anyone who says they are
No formal training required
*Certified Nutritionists (CNs) have formal training with a bachelor's degree or higher in nutrition or a related field and maintain state licensure, but they are not required to complete additional requirements mentioned above.
