ADD food to your plate, not remove them
All foods fit. Our approach includes using your physiological cues and mindfulness to improve your relationship with food and maximize health. Research overwhelmingly supports that dieting is not only ineffective, but can have deleterious effects long-term to physical and mental health.
Non-Diet Approach
You Don’t Fail Diets—They Fail You
The number one predictor of weight gain? DIETING. About 90% of those who diet end up gaining more weight than they lost, leading to the frustrating cycle of yo-yo dieting: short-term results, weight regain, repeat. Dieting starves your body, which then fights back by lowering your metabolic rate, making it harder to lose weight and easier to gain it back.
Healthy is a feeling, not a food or flavor…
My focus is holistic health—not just numbers on a scale. I prioritize eating well, mental health, social justice, cultural preferences, addressing biochemical imbalances, and engaging in joyful, purposeful movement. My approach emphasizes healthy behaviors, and encourages our clients to engage in behaviors that will have positive effects on health, whether or not weight loss is achieved.
The behaviors we engage in are important to be aware of because they can have an impact, positive or negative, on our health. Unlike smoking cigarettes, weight is NOT a behavior. Healthy behaviors include eating nutritious and satisfying foods, listening to your body’s hunger and fullness cues, enjoying movement, staying hydrated, and getting enough sleep. These actions can positively impact your health, regardless of any change in weight.
My goal is to help you find joy in eating and movement while removing the stigmas tied to unrealistic and unhealthy measures of success. This journey is personal, gradual, and tailored to you—because there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.
This approach is clearly a not one size fits all, takes time, and is highly individualized.
